NFL Free Agency 2021: Ranking and predicting

Evan Frazier, Sports Editor

With the start of the free agency period coming up, every NFL fan is starting to panic about whether their team’s star player will remain where they are.

With the first wave of releases from NFL teams, the Houston Texans release future Hall of Famer, defensive end J.J Watt. Watt has been in the league for some time now, passing his prime a few years ago, but is still an above average defensive end. Watt signed with the Arizona Cardinals not even a week after his release, making the Cardinals an immediate contender for their division. Overall, great move for Watt.

After suffering an absolutely goring injury in week 5 of the regular season, quarterback (QB) for the Dallas Cowboys, Dak Prescott sat out for the remainder of the season. He will be the best QB this off-season in free agency, and I don’t see him leaving Dallas. Cowboys fans can finally breathe calmly.

This year’s wide receiver free agency class is special, but the best receiver has a decision to make. After winning the Super Bowl this year, Chris Godwin’s contract expired. This begs the question whether he will stay in Tampa Bay with Tom Brady and a top 10 offense. I see him staying.

Many feel sorry for Allen Robinson, given the situation he has had in Chicago. Robinson has been a top 15 wide receiver his whole career but has never had a top 20 quarterback. This year, his contract finally expired, and I don’t see him staying in Chicago. I see Robinson landing in Miami for a few years, especially with the new young core in their offense.

Detroit Lions wide receiver Kenny Golladay has been a top 15 receiver, as well. Golladay hasn’t been pleased in Detroit given the fact that they are a complete dumpster fire. I see Golladay signing with any team that needs a new number one receiver. Given that the Giants and Jaguars are perfect fits, I think he will sign a long-term deal with the Giants.

Lastly, we have offensive tackle Trent Williams. He currently plays for the San Francisco 49ers; however, his contract expired this year. A lot has been said on where he will go, but I don’t think he is going anywhere. He will sign a long-term deal to stay in San Francisco.
