Tualatin High School welcomed a large number of new staff to the community this fall.

In an interview with The Wolf, new marketing teacher Jenna Baird shared her journey to TuHS.

Baird, a 2004 graduate of TuHS, has been the head softball coach here since 2010. Before joining the teaching staff she discovered her love of marketing at interesting jobs with the Portland Trail Blazers and PSU.

Baird worked under the General Manager of the Moda Center.

“I was able to shadow our marketing department as well as market my own projects to the full and part time staff.”

She was later hired as the General Manager at the Viking Pavilion arena at PSU, where she “hosted athletic events, concerts, commencements, trade shows, and other large events.” Her job was to market the space to the events community around the country.

Baird said “I wrote the executive summary as well as the marketing plan for the arena. I am proud to say that we projected to be ‘out of the red’ by the third year of operation prior to the pandemic. Before my marketing efforts we had projected this to happen by year 5.”

Comfortable at TUHS, Baird said, “I feel like I never left!” She has been pleasantly surprised by the energy of her students. “It is so wonderful to walk into my classroom and see my students each day”.
