How to throw a Zoom Halloween party

Ava Bruce, Staff Writer

Halloween is one of the best holidays for which to host a party. With all of the costume ideas, scares and treats, a Halloween party is sure to be one of the most extravagant. Sadly, due to COVID-19, Halloween parties have been brought to a screeching halt. That being said, with this how-to, you’re sure to have the best (and scariest) Halloween party through Zoom.

First things first, you’ll need a costume. Preferably something really out there, like the fly on Pence’s head. You’re guaranteed to make a statement on camera with that one.

Next, food. Normally, you’d have to share with the rest of your guests, but now that it’s virtual, you can claim all the treats for yourself. Make sure to buy the most expensive and delicious candy so when your friends join the call, they’ll be jealous when they see you eating your fine chocolates imported from Switzerland while they choke down their bottom-of-the-bag Sweetarts.

With decorations, you’ll want to include not only the common bats and spiders, but you’ll also want some scares. Get a family member to dress up and jump on screen to add a little fright to your night. A classic “Scream” mask could do, or you could even step it up a notch by going all-out as Freddy Krueger. Definitely a must-have to spice up your party.

Lastly, you’ll need to actually set up the call time. Pick a time that works for all your friends so you make sure that no one misses the greatest Zoom Halloween party of all time.

Remember to stay safe and have a Happy Halloween!
