Does Drake’s new album surpass Her Loss, his previous album? For all the Dogs was dropped Oct. 6, after teasing it to fans for over a month. Eagerly awaiting this drop after postponing the release date multiple times, fans were expecting some of Drake’s best work. Drake has been traveling all over the US on his It’s All A Blur tour since July 5. Fans are curious why Drake postponed the release date more than once. Do his new songs make up for lost time?
Since this album consists of 23 songs, I decided to ask some students at Tualatin High what their favorite song on the album is and why.
What are your thoughts on Drake’s new album?
Senior David Tomka: “It’s not as good as Utopia.” (Utopia is Travis Scott’s album that dropped on July 28, 2023).
Senior Ethan Matsuoka: “It’s pretty good.”
Junior Ayla Becker: ”I think the album is really good. I think the features that were in this album were really exciting, considering I’m a big fan of SZA. I think this album is a really good one, but is not as good as the Her Loss album. That album is by far the best, and in my opinion can’t even be compared.”
What is your favorite song on Drake’s new album and why?
Senior Tallie Fusitua: “Slime You Out.”
“SZA is an angel. To be honest, I need to do my second full listen of it all.”
Senior Brock Brenton: “8am in Charlotte.”
“It’s lit.”
Senior Alexa Mekkers: “Tried our Best.”
“This song reminded me of Drake’s old music.”
Tomka: “8am in Charlotte.”
“He goes crazy.”
Matsuoka: “Daylight.”
“The lead into the song and the flow of the song [make it my favorite].”
Becker: “Slime You Out.”
“I was waiting for a song to come out with Drake and SZA together, so I was really excited when I saw this song. Listening to it, it is definitely one of my favorite songs that Drake has made, and SZA’s features are so good.”
