The anticipation is high as we follow senior Tyson Hunt, Tualatin High School’s tight and defensive end, in his day in the life, leading up to the big game against Lake Oswego on Friday, Oct. 13.
At 6:30 a.m., Hunt begins his day with a peaceful yoga session. In order to retain his optimum performance on the field, he needs to discover his balance, mobility and concentration. Hunt returns home to rest and recover after a revitalizing yoga session. His body is prepared for the hardships that lie ahead with a healthy breakfast of oats and a protein smoothie. The tight end then goes and leads Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) before school at 8:30 a.m.
Hunt carefully maintains a diet that is well-balanced, since he is aware that nutrition is essential to his performance. For lunch at 12 p.m., Tyson always has a Subway sandwich to get all the essentials he will need for the game.
We meet up with Hunt once again at 4 p.m. as he enters the stadium for the critical walk-through;this is the final chance for Hunt and his teammates to perfect their plays and strategies.
The team is working through its game plan with focus and determination, making sure that every move is planned. Finally, at 7 p.m., it’s game time. Before the game starts, Hunt gets on his knee and says a prayer of safety for himself and his team.
Hunt demonstrates his leadership and skill. As the fans shout in joy to see their favorite tight end in action, Hunt always plays hard and the crowd loves this about him. Hunt leads his squad with size and attitude, demonstrating his commitment to preparedness.
Hunt and his teammates join celebrations on the field as the timer expires and the game is over. However, the night is still young. Hunt, his friends, teammates and even some passionate supporters go to Dave’s Hot Chicken for a well-earned, post-game dinner.
Hunt always gets a hot chicken sandwich with mac and cheese and a drink.
