What is a moshpit?
Moshpits are an area on a concert floor where concert-goers can get physical. The experience may not be for everyone, but it’s very exciting. The thrill you get while your favorite artist is singing and you’re jumping and pushing people trying to open up a moshpit is an experience that one should go through just for the fun of it.
In general, the safety concerning moshpits is an actual worry. As I mentioned before, moshpits can be very physical, and depending on the event, it’s going to be very crowded. It can also get very hot easily, and some people may be intoxicated in the crowd. You could easily lose a person in the crowd, too, as you’ll gradually shift from place to place while not even moshing.
I recently attended a concert, and I was with four other friends. At the beginning of the concert, we lost two of them in the crowd, and towards the end of the concert when the moshing was bad, we all ended up separated.
A very tragic but recent event that highlights the dangers of moshing is the Astroworld Festival by Travis Scott. It was overcrowded due to the fact that many fans snuck or forced their way into the arena where Scott was playing. It was reported that fans passed out or got trampled while the event was happening. After the event was done, it was reported that 10 sadly passed away. This event and many others highlight the dangers of moshing.
I can only say, if you do go moshing, be prepared and go with someone you can rely on if something goes wrong.
