With most upperclassmen having a driver’s license, we are all aware of the dangers and responsibilities we incur while driving. But the biggest problem most drivers encounter is road rage.
It’s happened to the best of us. People’s way of showing this rage can differ, but one thing they all have in common is that moment of rage when observers have to take a deep breath in and think about how that other driver was able to do something that bad.
A common example that can inspire road rage is when another driver cuts you off. They get extra points if they also brake. Another similar example but a little less common is when you’re approaching a stoplight that turns yellow and there’s a driver in front of you that decides to stop, even when they clearly could have gone and you would have been able to go, as well.
Just as most of us that can drive have experienced road rage, I’m sure we’ve also been on the other side of the road rage, when other drivers are frustrated with us. Being the one getting honked or yelled at is a learning experience.
We at The Wolf interviewed senior Amy Iturburo. She spoke about her experience on the road.
“People suck at driving,” Iturburo said. “There’s been times when road rage gets the best of me.”
Has Iturburo ever been on the opposite side of the road rage?
“So many times.”
Road rage is common among drivers. Next time you encounter a situation where you might feel enraged on the road, ignore it, and drive safely to your destination.
