Spring is arriving, and so are bountiful blooms of tulips. March 22 marks the beginning of the best way to celebrate Spring: the 2024 Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival.
Many visit the festival to frolic in the vibrant variety of tulips and flowers, shop at booths and consume large amounts of kettle corn. The festival is annual, with dates and lengths varying based on whether the flowers have bloomed or if they are still in germination.
Two Tualatin High School (TuHS) juniors, Laisha Bailon-Baltazar and Jave Wynn have attended the festival in the past.
“Dress accordingly because it’ll be really muddy,” Bailon-Baltazar said. “I think you should definitely attend with your friends, and you should take your time. Don’t rush through it. See all the beauty of it.”
The Wolf recommends you purchase your tickets online and check the website’s bloom status to make sure you’re visiting the farm in its uttermost beauty.
“The best time I’d say is near the end, probably June last year,” Jave, who has worked at the festival in past years, said. “It runs until June because that’s when most of the flowers are blooming.”
Throughout March and April, the Wooden Shoe Tulip Fest also offers day-specific activities. Just to name a few, the festival is holding a Floral Design Workshop on March 28, Easter Sunday on March 31, a Farm-to-Flower Weekend from April 6-7 and many more events. Tickets are now open for purchase on the Wooden Shoe Fest website: www.woodenshoe.com/.
