TuHS alum Reilly Wadsworth has come a long way, from the soccer fields at Tualatin High to the world’s first state-of-the-art women’s professional soccer stadium.
The 2017 grad spent her time at TuHS prepping for college and playing soccer. She went on to pursue a bachelor of science degree in advertising at the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communications (SOJC).
Six months into her college freshman year, she aspired to focus on marketing and strategy; however, she found more interest in storytelling through videos and photos. She had loved soccer ever since she was little and was a leader on the TuHS team during her time here, so she became the Creative Director of Oregon Women’s Soccer in her senior year at U of O.
After graduating magna cum laude and earning her bachelor’s degree in 2021 from the SOJC, she began working for the National Women’s Soccer League’s Kansas City (KC) Current club as the content manager in April of 2021.
“One of my best friends on Oregon Soccer was drafted to KC,” Wadsworth said. “I had made her draft video and graphics to celebrate her and got some notice from The Current. My friend urged me to apply for the job after she was drafted. After a few weeks of her asking me to apply, I put in my application and eventually got the position after six interviews. I said yes to taking the job without ever having been to Kansas City and moved a month later.”
As the Current’s content manager, she heads production of the club’s videos, graphics and photos.
Aside from being the content manager, she is also a licensed drone pilot, attaining her license through the Federal Aviation Administration.
Wadsworth’s dad, TuHS health and physical education teacher Eric Wadsworth does not shy away from expressing how proud he is of her.
“I’m proud of her work ethic and enthusiasm to create,” he said. “I am also grateful she sees the world beyond her own eyes and contributes to positively improving the lives of others through her work. She has a gift, just like everybody. It’s super cool to watch her learn, grow and thrive!”
