Juniors and seniors were waiting for April to come around since the start of this school year. Prom season finally arrived, and Tualatin High School had their very own Prom at the Redd East Event Space on Salmon St. on April 27.
The event’s theme was Hollywood, which meant we saw tons of students all dressed up in fancy maxi dresses and suits. There was a photobooth and a red carpet ready for students to take their photos. Every senior had a star with their own name on it scattered across the venue for them to find. Most seniors took these stars home.
For juniors, this event is still special as it’s an event we’ve been waiting for since we saw its depictions on Disney shows growing up. Whether you had a Prom date or went with your friends, there was definitely a consensus among students that the event was fun for all.
One of the seniors to attend was Gayathmie Weerasinghe.
“Overall, I would say Prom was really fun. I enjoyed the pre-Prom events, such as getting dinner with my friends all dressed up and taking professional photos. Aside from the music, everything else went well.”
Senior Sawyer Johnson was one of the students who helped put together the event. He had a lot of work to do, including on the big day. Rentals, the red carpet, ropes and stanchions had to be picked up and placed across the venue. It just goes to show how much thought was put into Prom and how much these dedicated students work. Many of the ASB students took time out of their busy schedules to set up and decorate the venue for the night.
“Overall, I felt the dance was a good representation of our vision and I was happy with the result,” Johnson said.
