Every October, we are bombarded with the same predictable costumes that are as stale as last year’s Halloween candy. Basic costumes make Halloween lose its originality and fun, so let’s put an end to all of the overused spooky attire. I hope all of you stayed away from the old, tired costumes this year and stepped out in some new, creative styles.
Although there are new trends and popular characters every year, we can always count on seeing a few witches, vampires and zombies each Halloween. Sure, those costumes are an easy fallback option if you want to play it safe, but being creative and branching out is so much more fun.
Here are some costumes I am expecting to see a lot of:
Cheetah/Leopard – This should be one of the most popular costumes this year. Leopard and cheetah prints have become a huge trend recently and it would be a simple, easy costume that many people likely already have the clothes for.
Minions – The recent release of Despicable Me 4 will definitely bring some Minion/Gru-related costumes, and I’m honestly here for it. I hope people go all out for this and don’t just throw on a yellow shirt and jeans because I think it could be pretty funny.
Inside Out Characters – Similar to Minions, I think Inside Out-related costumes will be quite popular, especially with the recent release of Inside Out 2. I can see these costumes being particularly popular among younger kids.
So what is the worst Halloween costume? Junior Nina Ichikawa said, “I think cat face paint with the nose and the whiskers and the ears and the tails are really basic. It’s still a cute costume. I just think there are better options.”
