The appropriately decorated Tuala-Toy Story Homecoming dance was, according to a majority of the attendees, a fantastic way to spend a Saturday night. Complete with a photo station, flashing lights, balloons – which people kept popping, sadly – and even a dance fight, the night was one that few regret.
Junior Leo Cowley was one of many students who had a blast during the dance and enjoyed the chance to clown around.
“Honestly, this time, it was a lot of fun,” Cowley said. “I really put myself out there. I was more social with friends, and a lot of people came up to me to talk about my makeup, even though most of it was talking about the Joker.”
Senior Haley Carmalt, a devoted choir member, felt that this Homecoming was one of the best, especially when it came to the music.
“I feel like the DJ actually played so many hype songs. In the past, they’ve had some odd music choices,” Carmalt said. “And I think my group was cooler this year, too. If your friends are having fun, you’re having fun.”
But, as always, nothing is perfect, and it is impossible to please everyone. On the opposite side of the spectrum, an anonymous student was left unsatisfied with the night’s music choice.
“The music at every single dance has been the same playlist of songs with maybe one or two variations, mixed pretty much the same way. Students get no input about songs, and I know a couple of people whose least favorite part of the dance is music.”
Overall, the dance was a hit, brewing hope for the next few that are still to come. Even if the music was a dividing factor – which it almost always is – the crowded dance floor remains a testament to the high energy and long-lasting excitement many students will remember fondly.
