Hop into winter by participating in one of Tualatin High School’s numerous winter activities. Whether you prefer spending your afternoons relaxing and decorating cookies or cheering on your fellow classmates at a basketball game, this winter season has much to offer.
Our basketball season began on Friday, Dec. 5, and will continue into February or even March, depending on our team’s performance. Participating in fun themes, getting snacks from concessions and supporting your friends and classmates is a great way to spend this winter season.
“It’s overall really fun, and it’s a good thing to do, as opposed to just sitting in bed,” junior Dalia Torres said.
This year, ASB is bringing back a school favorite: the Winter Pep Assembly. Show your school spirit, and represent your grade in our school-wide competitions and games. Along with this, a mental health speaker will be presenting at the assembly, reminding everyone to recognize the importance of taking care of ourselves during these colder seasons. By attending Winter Pep, you are not only having fun and learning, but helping your class gain spirit points towards the end of the year.
If you are all about service, our school is lending a helping hand to organizations in our community who are in need. Attend a Key Club meeting and sign up for one of the numerous events around our community to spread the holiday cheer. One student’s favorite activity is Spruce up the Library at the Tualatin Public Library, where you can help with cleaning, setting up crafts, finding missing items and more.
Another fun activity that our school offered this year was cookie decorating on Thursday, Dec. 19 after school. Students joined friends to use their creativity to make delicious treats.
Why is it important to participate in school events?
“Because it’s fun, and high school goes by so fast,” ASB treasurer Nina Ichikawa said. “You should take advantage of all of the opportunities that come to you. You should get involved!”
Participating in school events is a great way to become more involved in your community and brighten your school experience. Take the opportunity to cheer at a basketball game, \donate to a family in need and contribute to your own and your classmates’ school experience.
