The winter season has finally arrived, and with that comes new sports and tryouts. This means students have a lot of activities to choose from and enjoy.
One of these activities is basketball. If you didn’t make the team, you can try recreational basketball. It is a great way to stay connected with friends and get away from the cold during the winter months.
Tualatin Youth Basketball is a recreational program for students in grades 3-12 to enjoy and play basketball at any pace or skill level. The main goal of this program is to have fun and just play basketball. Registration for recreational basketball opened in September; teams were formed in November, and games run from December to February.
The Wolf sat down with sophomore rec basketball player Marek Miller, who is looking forward to playing.
“I think rec is a great way to practice and have fun with friends while playing basketball,” Miller said. “Personally I want to get better as a baller.”
His had some advice for new basketball players.
“You should play rec basketball to try it out because it is a very fun experience.” Miller is looking forward to “being a better baller and the grind….My goals are to be the best baller I can, whether it’s shooting, defending or blocking shots!”
The winter season opens up a wide variety of activities and interests, including playing recreational basketball. The program in Tualatin is lots of fun and a way to expand your skills. Since rec basketball is for grades 3-12, be sure to tell your younger siblings or friends about this opportunity.
This program is also an opportunity to try something at your own level and see how much you enjoy it. Whether you’re looking to expand your basketball skills and enjoy time with friends or simply want to play something during the winter, rec basketball is a great option for expanding your basketball skills and having fun while getting active during the cold and dark winter months.
