28 Years Later is the third movie in a horror trilogy about a rage virus escaping a biological weapons laboratory, infecting humans, and leading to a deadly pandemic infecting the world just 28 days later. The series starts in Cambridge, United Kingdom, where bike courier Jim, played by Cillian Murphy, wakes up from a coma to a stark city that was destroyed by a zombie-like mob of half-dead humans. The movies follow life 28 Days Later, then 28 Weeks Later, then 28 Years Later, and how the non-infected human population has adapted to this apocalyptic new world.
Devin Theurer, TuHS English teacher and horror movie fanatic, shared his excitement for this upcoming film and his fascination with the new movie’s trailer.
“The trailer makes me really excited.…It just reminds me of how much Danny Boyle considers the psychological component of horror and the ways in which psychological horror is somehow as important or more important than the physical horror of the zombies themselves,” Theurer said.
The 28 Years Later trailer has brought in a large audience of movie watchers and gained traction for its thrilling cinematography and eerie sound production. “Boots,” a poem about soldiers in colonial campaigns, is recited aloud by Taylor Holmes and accompanied by clips of survivors exploring the world that has now been stolen by those infected with the Rage Virus.
Coming out June 20, this movie is expected to send a chill through its viewers. Be careful with those near you – you must watch out for the infected.
