We all know that with any holiday, birthday or event, there is a common struggle of finding the perfect gift for someone. Especially when it comes to Mother’s Day, many moms say they don’t need anything and their children are the best gift they have ever gotten, but we all know deep down that they deserve the perfect gift for everything they do.
Tualatin High School sophomore Layla Auvil shared an easy tip that makes it easier to find the best gift.
“I pay a lot of attention when she expresses needing something or if she looks at something while shopping but puts it down. Just noticing the subtle ways our moms act can often be a big hint towards what they would like,” she said.
Thanks to Auvil, we can see how paying attention to the little things can really help find what moms want. Getting them something they can use every day is another great way to show your appreciation.
“I’m definitely going to give her something she can use every day. She always comes into my room for my makeup, skincare and hair care, so I’ll definitely get her some this year,” junior Lyan Abdulhaq said.
There are so many little things that can make a mom’s day, like writing a card, spending quality time and so much more.
“I’m getting her flowers! My sister and I always go to Trader Joe’s the morning of Mother’s Day and buy her a bouquet, which always makes her smile,” Abdulhaq said.
You don’t always have to buy big expensive things; sentimental gifts are often the best gifts. Sophomore Briana Kaer shared things she does to make Mother’s Day extra special.
“My mom doesn’t like it when I spend my money on her,” Kaer said. “So she enjoys it when I make her something like a craft or a painted picture, or just making her feel special on that day, like making her meals and other things like that.”
