Social media is entertainment to many and occupation for few, yet every day, more and more people fight to make the latter their reality. Ashley Trevino, or “Ash,” is renowned for her bold statements and sharing her personal life through TikTok. However, she is also controversially known for the fact that she is a mother – and not a good one.
“I don’t think Ash is a good mom,” Trevino follower sophomore Camille Beauchemin said. “She has the money and space to provide her children with basic necessities but chooses not to.”
There have been many instances in interviews, and even on TikTok live, where Trevino has openly stated that she does not provide her daughters with beds or proper necessities and even gets jealous of her daughters for having more followers.
“If you have children, you should be thinking about their mental health more than your own. Ash needs to be a better mom,” said junior Chloe Tija-Boediawan.
Trevino also exhibits inappropriate behavior in front of her children and consistently puts them in the eye of the public. Her critics say she puts her own career in front of her children’s wellbeing and draws attention to her strict priority of gaining fame and followers.
The prevalence of social media is by no means going to decline, and some people will do anything for a glimpse of the spotlight. Mothers like Trevino have openly exploited their children, which is why it’s important to be mindful of whom we choose to support.
