New football coach arrives at TuHS

Karys Gates, Staff Writer

Coming out of a successful football season last fall, we are excited to see what next season has to offer.  Coach Lever recently announced his plan to depart from TuHS, and shortly thereafter, the Tualatin community heard the exciting news of Coach Domonic Ferraro becoming the new head football coach at TuHS. In order to get to know him a little better, the Wolf decided to interview Coach Ferraro and ask him some questions about the upcoming season.

What is your past experience with coaching football?

“Last season was my 16th year coaching high school football.  Most recently, I was the head football coach at Forest Grove, where we were in the process of rebuilding a program that had only won 11 games in five years.  Last season, we went 4-5 and missed making the playoffs by 1 spot.  Before that, I spent time as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Sunset High school (five years) and Westview (five years).”

What made you decide to come coach at Tualatin High School?

“I think the opportunity to come to a community like Tualatin was too good to pass up.  There is a strong commitment to athletics and academics here, and I can already tell how special this place is.  It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of the Tualatin family.”

What are you looking forward to this upcoming season?

“As far as the upcoming season, I’m looking forward to competing against the best of the best.  The Three Rivers League is a really tough league.  It is kind of like the SEC of Oregon Football.  Week in and week out, you are going to be challenged by really good competition.”

What aspects about being a football coach do you enjoy the most?

“I love the relationships that the game creates.  I have been around this game for a while, and I have been blessed to meet some amazing people along the way.  I also love how the game teaches life lessons to young people, most importantly how to handle adversity.”

What goals do you strive to accomplish this season?

“As far as goals, I want to make sure that we continue to build upon the tradition that has been established and compete at a high level on the football field.”
