When Albertsons in Tigard Town Square closed in 2015, locals began wondering when a new store would replace it. After years of anticipation, Trader Joe’s grand opening occurred on Friday, Oct. 28.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, a flood of old and new customers were finally free to enter the store. Shoppers were thrilled to have a new Trader Joe’s, some traveling from as far as McMinnville or Lake Oswego to see the store’s wide and colorful aisles brimming with products.

Crew member and Tualatin High School junior Oliver Wolfe commented on his experience working within the store.

“The customers are super excited to have access to a nearby store, and all of the employees work together in any way they can,” he said. “Everyone is always happy to be there.”

Before this store opened, the closest Trader Joe’s to Tigard and Tualatin was the one on Bangy Road in Lake Oswego. With the holidays right around the corner, the new one is much closer for many shoppers to enjoy the dozens of seasonal items lining the shelves.

Be sure to look out for their gingerbread sandwich cookies, dark chocolate covered peppermint Joe Joe’s, dark chocolate mint stars, kringle, grapefruit hand soap, peppermint hold the cones, truffles and dairy-free egg nog.
