It’s time to decide if holiday decor can go up

Ava Bruce, Staff Writer

Holiday decor is the pinnacle of the winter season. Anywhere you go is bound to have decked its halls with a festive theme and will certainly be filled with the unmistakable sound of classic holiday songs. Somehow, all of this decor pops up before any establishment opens on Nov. 1. How they manage to transition between Halloween and winter holiday decor so fast, I really can’t say. All I know is that I am 100 percent for the quick transition.

However, this transition does not float some poeple’s boats. I guess basking in the fall spirit through November is what they want, but last time I checked, there’s no such thing as “Thanksgiving season” (although, fall is very pretty).

That being said, winter is what makes me happiest. I love to decorate early because who doesn’t love the bright lights of a Christmas tree or the warmth of a winter pine candle? Fall is beautiful and all, but there’s just no pizazz! Sure, you can set a few pumpkins on your porch or hang a “Give Thanks” banner in your kitchen, but nothing compares to the winter festivities.

Honestly, as much as I would love for everyone to fully embrace pre-Thanksgiving holiday decor, I can agree to disagree. 2020 has been a rollercoaster of a year, so I say “you do you” and end it off with whatever makes you happiest.

And who knows? Maybe pumpkins under the Christmas tree will become a new trend.

Happy Holidays!
