What will be disappearing from Netflix this year?

In the new year of 2021, Netflix has unfortunately taken away some of our favorite shows. Netflix has decided to take certain titles off because of licensing agreements or the mounting costs of keeping an unpopular series or movie available. While Netflix has granted us tons of new content for the new year, viewers are still sad to see some old favorites go.

The Office was a trending TV series filmed from 2005-2013 that has recently been taken off of Netflix’s streaming platform. Many Office fans are heartbroken to see this comedy go. NBC’s streaming company, Peacock, is showing seasons 1 and 2 of The Office free of charge. HBO Max is the expensive option to watch this show, charging $14.99 per month, although it comes with a variety of additional shows and movies including Gossip Girl.

Gossip Girl is a popular, binge-worthy TV show filmed from 2007-2012. The show focuses on a mysterious blogger to be or not to be revealed in upper-east New York. Gossip Girl has left Netflix to be streamed on HBO Max and Amazon Prime Video.

Disney’s contract with Netflix from 2016-2019 comes to a deserved end with the Mary Poppins Returns movie finally crossing over to Disney+.

Additional films taken off of Netflix come 2021 are The Interview, The Story of Us, the Back to the Future movies, Casper, Indiana Jones, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park I + II and many more.

Although it’s devastating to see these leave Netflix, there is a lot in store for 2021! It has been unofficially announced that Stranger Things season 4 is coming out August 2021, as well as some popular series: You season 3, Black Mirror season 6, Outer Banks season 2, Space Force season 2 and Emily in Paris season 2.
