Intercambio makes impact with mentor program

Being the change in someones’ life is the newest cool trend! Timberwolves who want to lend a hand to be an impactful part of a peer’s life should consider joining Intercambio.

Intercambio is an amazing opportunity to develop leadership skills, grow closer to your classmates and gain volunteer hours each year.

Intercambio is a collaborative club between Tigard and Tualatin High Schools that consists of juniors and seniors. Signing up for Intercambio means signing up for a year-long class and becoming  an influential mentor to eighth graders from the district’s middle schools. Within the class, essential leadership skills are taught, and inseparable bonds are made between people. As mentors, students connect and grow with their mentees throughout the year and eventually send them off to their freshman year of high school.

An average day in an Intercambio mentoring session is filled with socializing, games and of course a fair share of homework help. Intercambio provides students with an opportunity to practice leading a group of peers and organizing small activities.

Intercambio just finished recruiting future mentors, but students who are still interested in joining the Intercambio community should contact Intercambio Coordinator Chris Lieuallen at [email protected]

Students with any inquiries can also contact current student mentors Marin Hensley at [email protected]  or Taryn Coulson at [email protected].
