Wolf share how we limit screentime

The Wolf Staff

With the second semester of the school year underway, distractions and phone/computer usage are inevitable. So The Wolf staff asked the question, “How do you limit your screen time?”

“If I find myself being on my phone too long, starting to click onto the same apps over and over, then I try to remind myself of all the things I could be doing that are more productive. Even if it isn’t academically productive like homework, I know there are other things I can be doing to benefit myself, whether it’s going for a walk, journaling, crocheting, baking, or spending time with friends. I just try to remind myself of other ways I could be spending my time.”

-Isabella Kneeshaw, Co-Feature Editor

“I limit my screen time by tucking away my phone some place where I cannot see it, and I restrict some apps I am usually on through the settings of my phone. I do taekwondo, and I have a bag that has my gear inside of it, so I put my phone in there before I get home. Once I get home, I immediately shower and do my homework, so it is convenient for me to hide my phone.”

-Juliana Villanueva, Staff Writer

“The way I limit my screen time is by adding time limits to certain apps, so I feel just guilty enough to not click ‘Remind Me in 15 Minutes’ seven times a day.”

-Olivia Trone, Co-Bilingual Editor

“I set my phone to grayscale so I’m less tempted to look at it. I also turn off app badges, so things don’t feel urgent.”

-Ryan Ehrhart, Co-Opinion Editor

“I leave my house by either going for a walk or a drive to give myself a screen break. I find that if I make it so my phone isn’t a possible option, then I won’t be tempted to go on it.”

-Stella Fetherston, Co-Editor-in-Chief

“Sometimes I will use the screen time blocker that Apple has to limit screen time, but that got really annoying, so now I try to find other activities to distract me when I’m bored. I love TikTok, but if it’s taking up your screen time, it helps to delete it and re-download it so it’s not just a click away.”

-Ava Bruce, Staff Writer

“I put my phone away at least an hour before I plan to fall asleep.”

-Cyrah Carlson, Co-Fold Editor

“I don’t. I get the notification every Sunday of my screen time and I just choose to ignore it. Out of sight out of mind.”

-Amanda Fronczak, Co-Humor Editor

“I set time limits on certain apps I know I’ll use most, like Instagram. I also try to position myself near a clock so I force myself to keep track of the time.”

-Kayla Wolf, Co-News Editor

“I put my phone in a different room. Out of sight, out of mind!”

-Katherine Kang, Staff Writer
