Have you ever had birria ramen? Well, I haven’t…and I didn’t order it, either. But Birreria, a food truck on SW Pacific Highway in Tigard that specializes in birria and other Mexican treats, may just be the place to visit for an easy meal on the go. Junior Layla Auvil, freshman Reese Miller and Wolf editor Lyan Abdulhaq took a dip into Birreria’s extensive menu.
As students, it’s hard for us to find places to eat that aren’t fast food, won’t take up too much of our time, or cost too much of our money. We tried their birria fries, the asada burrito, crunchwrap, chicken tacos and more.
Do you prefer food trucks or sit-down restaurants?
Abdulhaq: I prefer sit-downs. I love dressing up and taking photos for my socials, and food trucks tend not to have the image that I’m usually looking for.
Auvil: I prefer sit-down restaurants because their food is typically more reliable. Food trucks do tend to offer more authentic and personable foods, but often it can be a hit or miss.
Miller: I usually prefer sit-down restaurants, but after trying these tacos…I might have to reconsider!
What was your favorite item we ordered?
Abdulhaq: Definitely the crunchwrap. It tasted great, and the textures were super unique. It had a melted cheese layer on top and Hot Cheetos inside. I would undoubtedly get it again!
Auvil: The crunchwrap was delectable; I am already a huge fan of Taco Bell’s crunchwraps, but this dish was on a completely different tier.
Miller: My favorite item that we tried was the pollo tacos. They were very good, the chicken was very fresh and I loved the tortillas.
Would you come again?
Abdulhaq: Yes! Almost everything we tried, I would get again.
Auvil: I would definitely visit again. Their food tasted authentic and left me feeling content instead of gross, like fast food typically does.
Miller: I would 100 percent go again. It’s in the best spot and overall very good food.
