The 2025 award season has arrived and one of the most anticipated events has already wrapped up: The Grammys. The Grammys are all about celebrating the music industry and all the amazing artists that produced music in 2024. This year the Grammys were held on Sunday, Feb. 2nd in Los Angeles.
One of the most highly anticipated categories of the Grammys is Album of the Year. This summer, fans went crazy for Charli XCX’s album BRAT, which peaked at number one in the UK, Australia and Ireland. Another contender was Taylor Swift’s record-breaking album The Tortured Poets Department. Taylor Swift has already racked up a total of 14 awards and 52 nominations in her career.
“I think either Short ‘n Sweet [by Sabrina Carpenter] or BRAT is going to win because of the impact they had over the summer,” sophomore Kelsi Cerda said before the show.
But in the end, Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter took home the award for Album of the Year.
Another highlight of the Grammys is the award for Song of the Year. From “Die with a Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars to “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar, the road to victory was not easy.
“I think the winner is going to be ‘Not Like Us’ or ‘Please Please Please’ [by Sabrina Carpenter] because of the hold ‘Not Like Us’ had on this country,” sophomore Madilynn Johnson predicted.
And as predicted, Lamar’s “Not Like Us” took home the Grammy for Song of the Year.
Congratulations to all the incredible artists who were nominated for the 2025 Grammys.
