Spicing up self-isolation

Taryn Coulson, Staff Writer

Since quarantine has been a part of our daily lives for too long now, I’m sure many of you have started to run out of ideas for things to do, resulting in actions such as cutting and coloring your own hair, watching hours of Tik Tok and being on way too many Zoom calls. Every day has started to feel the same, so here are a few ideas that will hopefully spice up your overall quarantine experience.

  • With all of this extra time on your hands, you might as well be productive, so why not finish that seven-season show you started last week?
  • Just in case you weren’t aware, Costco has started handing out free samples again, so I definitely recommend heading over there if you need a good snack.
  • Trying to find ways to cheer up? Go make some whipped hot cocoa to get in the holiday spirit. I’ve heard it’s better than whipped coffee.
  • With school starting back up again, it might be a good idea to pick up that book that’s been sitting on your nightstand since last year.
  • Try and recreate one of your favorite family recipes. If you are one of those people whose culinary expertise goes as far as toast, maybe skip this suggestion.
  • Always killing your indoor plants? Maybe try growing a garden outside. How hard could it be? The rain waters it for you.
  • If you never hopped on the Tiger King trend, trust me, you made the right decision. Try and pick a different show to watch.
  • Found a new style during quarantine? Go online shopping to find some masks to match your outfits.
  • Try painting a mural in your room for the perfect Zoom background. Make sure you choose a spot with good lighting.
  • Oh and one last thing…try to avoid checking your average screen time. It’s probably gone up a little bit.
