A Guide to gift giving this holiday season starts here

Racking your brain over finding the perfect gift? Fear not. While a more practical gift may have a greater chance of getting used, take a less serious approach this gift-giving season and shoot for something more quirky.

This way, you will have a much more enjoyable experience picking it out, with the added bonus of witnessing the recipient’s reaction while it gets unwrapped. Even if the recipient finds your gift severely less funny than you do, which would be very unlikely considering you’re a comedian, they will be forced to accept it with a fake smile in traditional gift-receiving fashion. It’s a win-win.

For starters, have you ever heard of a “gurgle pot”? Not only is this ceramic creation elegantly shaped as a fish; it also acts as a water pitcher that makes a fascinating gurgling sound when poured. As a bonus, it can be used as a vase for flowers or a centerpiece for any table.

You know how your parents like to mention how much cooler gifts are now-a-days compared to the plain socks and underwear they would receive as kids? I think we need to counteract this statement and give the classic gift of socks a revamp. You may be thinking, aren’t socks as practical as it gets? However, you will be surprised to know that there are hundreds of styles and prints of socks that can make anyone more inclined to flaunt them to any passerby. Go tacky or go home.

If the individual you are blessing with your gift is notorious for ruining their holiday attire, your goal this holiday season is to intervene with an adult bib. Let them know you understand their struggle by giving them this mealtime essential while also gifting them the courage to wear a white sweater during dinner…with the bib on, of course.

None of these ideas striking your fancy? Go to your nearest vintage store and pick out a poster that requires no explanation other than it being “artful.” No one will argue with you. A  good celebrity coloring book will also make the cut. Who wouldn’t love coloring pictures of The Rock for pages on end?
