Surely, you’ve heard about Snapchat’s new surfacing attempt at integrating artificial intelligence into their app, or what it thinks of itself as a great friend: My AI. This out-of-pocket yet interesting AI acts like one of your Snapchat friends who will respond, ask questions and adapt to the prompts you send. This might seem nice at first, but proceeding with its release a few weeks ago, people quickly found out how not-so-nice this AI might be.

Are you getting constant dry texts from your crush and you want to keep dragging it on instead of taking the obvious hint? You might want to learn from Snapchat’s My AI because this thing is a bit too good at following up even with one-word texts. Whoever My AI is talking to is for sure playing hard to get. It seems way too desperate for attention at this point.

You could argue that the Snapchat team is just trying to create a friendly bot you can talk to on the rare occasion that your friends have something better to do than responding to you, but you’d be wrong because it’s also oddly stalky. Don’t fall into the habit of sending it snaps like other people. It’ll keep asking you questions that would be seamlessly good data for the app to sell. Before you know it, My AI knows what you’re doing, what you’re about to do, what you already did and pretty much everything leading up to the mistake of you texting it in the first place.

Just like your past relationships, this AI will be stuck in your head rent free. And it’s not because you miss them or you think they’re the best you’ve ever had, but rather that someone thought it would be a good idea to make an irremovable conversation at the top of your Snapchat chats. You can’t clear, block or remove the AI, and, for some reason, even pinned conversations don’t move it. Just remember whoever you are, wherever you are, your Snapchat AI will always come before your real friends.
