Few things capture the essence of holiday spirit quite like dimming the lights, getting cozy and watching your favorite festive movie. What better way to spark joy and celebration for the holidays than a good, seasonal classic? These films aren’t mere entertainment; they represent the shift into festive spirit and the annual nostalgia that comes along with it.
“It really sets the mood for the time of year. Something about hiding under a blanket with hot cocoa and watching a movie is the peak of all that is holiday,” said junior Jame Wright, emphasizing the comforting feeling holiday movies evoke.
Wright remembers holiday movies as an important part of his childhood.
“I used to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas on VHS, so I have that nostalgic connection to it. It’s only natural that I would want to watch it now,” he stated.
Sophomore Olivia Garrett also expressed her appreciation for holiday films.
“They’re pretty important. It’s what starts to get me and my family in the Christmas mood. We always start watching Christmas movies at the beginning of November, so it’s kind of what marks the changing of the Christmas spirit feeling.”
Seasonal films are more than just movies; they’re moments we share. Whether you’re laughing together at a funny scene or quoting a line in the hallways with your friends, they help remind us that the most important part of the holidays is celebrating them with the people we love most.
