Sports betting has taken the world by storm and expanded through the states and across the world. After a major switch into electronic platforms, sports betting is bigger and easier than ever.
With apps being easily accessible, bettors can pick up their phones and place multiple bets within a few minutes. Seen as an alternative to actually going into casinos, sports betting grew in popularity within just the last few years. Because it is advertised over TV and even on social media, it’s hard to go a day without hearing about it, one way or another.
Although, there are always two sides to how people view gambling in general, and with sports betting, it’s no different.
“I enjoy it, but of course there are lots of cons, as it is easy to lose a lot of money, and then trying to make back the money you already lost is what I would say is the biggest con, senior Dane Bakke said. “But the pro is that you’re technically spending money for entertainment if you lose.”
Another senior, Owen Parsons, thinks it’s all about limits.
“I think it makes sports more exciting,” Parsons said. “And if you do small bets, then it makes it more exciting, but if you are making big bets, then it’s stupid.”
Looking at the big picture, gambling on sports isn’t the best idea. Though it can be fun with small bets, addiction is real, and it’s good to make sure you or others aren’t taking things too far.
