The 2026 World Cup is being hosted in Canada, Mexico and the United States. But there comes a dilemma with hosting the world’s biggest sports event in the US, and that dilemma is the price.
Soccer fans will flock from all over the world to the 16 chosen venues across North America, with estimated ticket prices ranging from as low as $60 to over $1000 for the group stage matches.
In the host nations’ group stage, the estimated high end is over $2500. The further the tournament goes, the more ticket costs will rise, with the World Cup Finals’ cheapest ticket being an estimated $2000, and the highest being over $7500.
The Wolf sat down with junior soccer fans Callie Porter and Casey Hoff to see what their thoughts are on the ticket prices.
“I feel like there is no need for them to be that expensive. I feel like people shouldn’t be able to resell the tickets for more than they paid,” Porter stated.
Hoff reiterated a similar idea.
“I would say the price of the tickets is kind of crazy because you can go to other games for around 20 bucks. I think for the average fan, the tickets aren’t fairly priced, but it does make sense with the kind of event that the World Cup is.”
With the price of tickets soaring every day, one thing is for sure: if you are interested in going to a match, you have to order a ticket as soon as possible. In order to buy tickets, you need to register on the FIFA website. This will give you a FIFA ID and ensure you will be updated when new tickets are released. Although the first sales phase has already finished, there will be more phases with more opportunities to buy tickets at the lowest possible price.
