It’s that time of year, Wolves! Tualatin High School’s Unified Club is currently in their second month of basketball season, and things have been looking great. Athletes and partners are coming together and working hard to have a fun and inclusive season!
The first game of the season happened on Jan. 9, and we had a great turnout with over 40 sign-ups. Unified is all about community, and we have a great one here at TuHS. Our sports president, senior Abigail Neuman, has done so much for the club, making sure everyone feels included and welcome.
Senior Cailey Pazda, who has participated in Unified, spoke on her feelings towards the community it creates.
“Everyone comes together, and everyone puts everything outside of Unified to the side, and it creates an inclusive and fun environment,” Pazda said.
Basketball Senior Night is the biggest Unified event of the year, and it’s happening today, Feb. 12, at Tualatin High School in the main gym, at 7 p.m. Friends and family can come to support our athletes and partners while they participate in a controlled basketball game with other fun activities and half-time events. Come join the fun and see what Tualatin Unified will bring this year.
Jennifer Mills, the Unified advisor, explained what to expect for Senior Night.
“It’s a big partnership with the community. The boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams come out and support. We do a dance with the cheer team. We do an actual basketball game, and each quarter there’s a fun activity.”
The involvement of students is the most important thing when it comes to Unified. This year, the club has had a tremendous number of people signing up, which the club leaders say is so special and means a lot.
“Having people see it and want to be a part of it is making our community expand; it’s more supportive, and the more people that we get involved, the more people’s lives we get to touch,” Mills said.
