In a move no one expected Marvel recasts Foxx to reprise his electrifying role.

Jamie Foxx has confirmed that he will be returning as Electro in the MCU’s Spider-Man 3. The news shocked (pun intended) many Marvel fans when Foxx confirmed his return in an Instagram post.

“Tell Spidey let’s run it back!” Foxx captioned the post. “Super excited to be part of the new Marvel Spider-Man new installment … can’t wait for y’all to check the new one. And I won’t be blue in this one!! But a thousand percent badass!!”

Foxx’s first time playing Electro was in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 starring Andrew Garfield. His character, Max Dillon, was imbued with the power of electricity, via a fall into a tank of electric eels. He became a very angry, very blue villain that wreaked havoc upon New York until it was time to move on to the next villain of the movie.

All we know about the new movie, starring Tom Holland, is that it will see Spidey deal with the cliffhanger that Spider-Man: Far From Home ended on. Many fans are hoping for the third installment to bring the multiverse into play, and are even hoping for the movie to include Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire as their respective Spider-Men. On Oct.15, Sony confirmed those rumors.

Along with Jamie Foxx and Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch is also confirmed to have joined the cast, reprising his role of Dr. Strange. The rest of the supporting cast from the previous two Spider-Man films will also be joining the cast of Spider-Man 3.
